I have no idea whether ''The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy'' is a good album, but I might have to buy it just on the basis of its awesome name

Not Veterans day in Canada, we call it Remembrance Day (I think it was changed from Armistice day after WWII, but it's been a few years since my last history class)

And I had the same thoughts on parking as mkilby, a tracked vehicle is pretty easy to 'parallel' park.

I'm just wondering what branch of the service that guy's supposed to have been in. Either it's also Veteran's Day in Canada or he's got his chevrons sewn on upside down.

I thought it was funny. I wouldn't have the guts to ticket/tow an angry old man who drives a tank.

Tanks don't need to park in parallel. They can drive perpedicularly into the spot, and rotate there in place. (There's no visible damage on the curb, but that's irrelevant: there should be all sorts of track marks on the street, too, unless this tank was equipped with rubber treads).

I don't know. I think this is an odd thing to print for Vet's day. We're always being told that vets fought for our freedom, law, order, what's right, etc, and now that this soldier is back in the good ole' USA, he just does whatever he wants because, in this case, he's got the might to back him up.

Is the message here 'Might makes right'? It kind of seems that way to me. "Damn your law and order when you've got the muscle I've got. I fought for our democracy, but it's not like I'm bound by its conventions! Ha!"

Maybe I'm taking this too seriously.

There's a REAL military laugh here, for those who know their acronyms. A TOW missile is an anti-tank missile (also used against other vehicles) so a sign that says "TOW Away! No Parking!" has a LOL twist. To me, anyway.

What made this a LOL for me is the "Yeah, just TRY it" look he's giving the officer.
