Crickets don't lay on their backs while chirping, but teenagers might lay on their beds while listening to music at night. It ignores facts of anatomy and insect behavior, but it also has crickets living in a house, reading, smoking and talking, so one more factual inaccuracy (or two) isn't a big deal.
