I was walking into a freeway rest stop once half-dazed and slouching from driving and ahead of me I see from the bottom up some expensive women’s boots, a tasteful wool skirt, a stylish jacket and turtleneck, and on top aviator glasses and a 1952 Air Force brush cut. The guy apparently got his ya-yas out driving around in drag but then had to change clothes at the rest stop before going home. I assume he took the wig off outside so people wouldn’t stop her/him going into the men’s room.

It definitely woke me up.

So the scuba-diving tranny doesn’t strike me as all that implausible.

I’m no physicist, but I don’t see how a wig would stay on top of a wetsuit underwater, only to be thrown off by shock and surprise.

I don’t know from first hand experience but I suspect the lipstick sticks. I remember a movie about Seal types preparing for an amphibious invasion by being marked with waterproof lipstick like rulers
so that depth estimates of waist or chest high from 5′ and 6′+ guys would be useful . I think the movie was made in the ’50s.

Hard to imagine what the illusion was supposed to be, given the guy’s in a wetsuit and scuba gear to begin with. And he’s holding the mouthpiece in his hand, which is going to cover the lipstick. Okey dokey.

I thought maybe he was supposed to be the mermaid used for the tourist and got caught mid make up routine thereby destroying the “illusion.”

Does lipstick go on at all on wet lips? (haven’t worn the stuff in years, but I seem to recall having to make sure my lips didn’t have water on them or the lipstick would just slide over and not stick.)

That aside - I dunno what he’s worried about, his scuba gear is almost as good as a full-face mask for hiding who he is.

Does lipstick usually stay on that well underwater? I’m really not too well read up on the subject.
