OK, here’s the difference: In Heathcliff the birds talk and the cat doesn’t. In Garfield, the birds and the cat think at each other, or whatever those cloud balloons are supposed to be.

This is very similar to a pair of identical drawings that had different captions that were posted here not long ago. The difference was the birds were on the wire and the cat was on the sidewalk. hmmmmm
