I have no idea whether ''The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy'' is a good album, but I might have to buy it just on the basis of its awesome name

The word 'give' under the Red Cross logo gave it away for me. Very obviously a bloodmobile looking to spread the wealth.

Well it's definitely some vehicle from the Red Cross. They are the only organization legally permitted to use that red plus sign, and we know that cartoonists are scrupulous about adhering to such details of realism.

Can't they just sell hot chocolate instead? Have these kids never lived in a northern climate?

I thought the joke was just that a relative sent over a busload of patients from the hospital. Doesn't her mom or dad work at a hospital? Lemonade stands always make their big money off of friends and relatives, right?

I, agree it's about blood donation, but without thinking it through. Maybe the author has just seen bloodmobiles but have no idea how they actually work.

The 60 cups are for everyone who gives blood during the day, not just at one time which solves the bus size issue. Or people could drink more than one lemonade.

Then again, it could be for 120 girls.

there are a few "adult daycares" and such that have their own buses which transport residents/patients from home to hospital/doctor's appointments/etc. The ones I have seen are usually smaller but maybe in the cities (where this strip takes place) they have larger ones.

i thought perhaps the red cross logo and the Give were not meant to be part of the vehicle's logo, but the driver is wearing a cap with the same logo on his head.

If it's a bloodmobile, then why 60 passengers? The last bloodmobile I was on had room for a driver, 1-2 crammed at a little table behind the driver's seat, 4 beds for donors, and 2 health interview booths in the back. Of these, only the driver had a seat belt and would have a location that seems appropriate for travel.

A bloodmobile does have orange juice in a little fridge. Is the driver going to buy lemonade for those who will be giving blood later in the day? That doesn't seem right...
