I have no idea whether ''The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy'' is a good album, but I might have to buy it just on the basis of its awesome name

@Stan -- I can't track down the link right now. but shortly before this there was a CIDU post of an Argyle Sweater cartoon featuring variations on the "Dances with Wolves" style of naming. But in the last of the six sub-panels the guy was called Stan.

I am reminded of some pictures I saw several weeks ago. Actor Dennis Hopper was being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Several pictures included a little girl described as Hopper’s seven-year old daughter. Then there was a picture of the seven-year old with a slightly older girl, maybe 10 or 11. The caption said that the girls were Hopper’s daughter and granddaughter...

Badly worded by Brooke, I'd say, but the point is, as others have mentioned, that not only is Dad's new flame young enough to be Juliet's offspring, but so young that - like Edda - she still qualifies for a hall pass. Which makes this a definite eww for me.

Tom - My father has multiple uncles and aunts who are a couple years YOUNGER than him. (At least one who's closer to my age than his, even.) But my grandmother has a big, big family.

I'm with Jeff @12 concerning this creepy business. It bothers nobody that this joke hinges on the fact that an older gentleman is dating a child with a hall pass?

Not funny...creepy.

Although I could technically have started having kids when I was twelve I always use the year I graduated from college when I think if I'm old enough to be someone's mother. I could've had children for roughly a quarter century after that (I didn't) and I can see (slightly) where Edda might be coming from. On the other hand I think it is a distinction that is unlikely to be made by anyone in reality. Of course, especially with Brooke McEldowney, comics are not reality.
