I have no idea whether ''The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy'' is a good album, but I might have to buy it just on the basis of its awesome name

Mark in Boston#20- I believe you're right; my memory has been jogged (I haven't had a "Legion of SuperHeroes" comic in 30 years).
The Beast Boy character was pretty well-written in The Teen Titans in the early '80s.

The Legion's (Well...Heroes of Lallor's) Beast Boy did die, in his second appearance.

Poor boy still doesn't get any respect.

paperboy,

I know I saw Beast Boy back in the 1960's. In fact, if I remember correctly he got killed off -- someone killed him when he was a dog and he turned back into a dead human. I can't believe someone thought he was good enough to revive.

Fnord - I'm the first one to defend Orin (and Arthur Joseph) - Aquaman is awesome. And strong, tough, fast, etc. But he's not at the same power level as Clark, Diana, or the Lanterns.

Paperboy - there actually was a Beast Boy in Legion of Superheroes (though he wasn't a Legionnaire - he was a member of the Heroes of Lallor). He actually predates Gar by a year.

Re #12:
A lot of recent adaptations have reduced Superman's power level, so he can believably show up in the same story with other heroes. Usually they justify this by saying, yes he's got all that power, but he has to hold back all the time, for fear of destroying all the fragile stuff (and people) around him.

There's one episode of that JLA cartoon where Superman is fighting Darkseid in an abandoned city. Supes talks about this sort of thing explicitly, pointing out that he can never lose control for a second, because he basically lives in a world made of cardboard. He goes on: "But you can take it, can't you, big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose and show you just how powerful I really am." Then he punches the guy through a whole lot of buildings.

People shouldn't put down talking to fish. It's not like it's restricted to *small* fish. Being able to send great white sharks after your enemies has got to be worth something.

Fnord #9,
That reminds me of Dr. Katz:
Aquaman was so lame, I mean, he could talk to fish. A fish has a 5 second memory; what's it going to say?
"Hello, fish."
"Hi, Aquaman."
"Seen anything suspicious?"
"... Hi, Aquaman."
Mark in Boston#9- I think your thinking of two different groups. "The Legion of Super-Heroes" was a teen-age group in the 30th Century that Superboy time-traveled to, and that included "Shrinking Violet". (and other silly abilities, like "Bouncing Boy" with the power to puff himself up and bounce on bad guys.) "The Teen Titans" were a present day group that included Beast Boy.

Golly... "not given" has an extraordinarily low threshold for frustration, doesn't he?

The funny part is, if he's reading this on a feed rather than coming to the site, his inability to view the comic in its proper size is entirely out of my control.
